The Lead Product Development at DOCKR mentioned that their cargo bikes were initially delivered with a plastic box with aluminum profiles or an aluminum box. However, they quickly realized that even minor collisions caused significant damage to the boxes, leading to their write-off. To address this issue and with the vision to scale up production, they developed a more robust box and turned to Aluminized for the aluminum frame. Working together with Aluminized’s engineers, they were able to achieve suitable constructions that perfectly met their requirements.
The communication between DOCKR and Aluminized was positive, despite the two companies having different identities. They had to come together occasionally, but it turned out to be very beneficial. They are satisfied with the end result and, thanks to the collaboration with Aluminized, they were able to achieve stable production.
